Patrizia La Piscopia

Patrizia is an archaeologist and a researcher currently collaborating with the UCD School of Archaeology as Heritage Management lecturer. She completed a Master’s degree in Science and Conservation of Materials in Bologna with the CNR. She then moved to the University College Dublin, to pursue an MA in Landscape Archaeology, where she is now conducting her research. Patrizia also has many years of experience as an archaeologist, and working in both commercial and research excavations in Europe and further afield. Her current research is focusing on the investigation of heritage management issues in conflict zones. In her work she merged her competence in conservation and management with her strong personal interest for politics and social justice.

Her experience as reserve officer in the Italian Army has inspired her desire to investigate new avenues to raise awareness about Cultural Property Protection in a military context. She has published extensively in both Irish and International journals and presented her work at a number of international conferences. She is also worked as a consultant for The International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), is an International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) member since 2011.

Patrizia joined the Committee as a co-opted member in 2018.
